Cananga odorata oil is extracted from the yellow flowers of a tropical plant, Ylang ylang (Cananga odorataland native to Southeast Asia.The essential oi of the Ylang-Ylang is extracted through steam distillation of the plant's flowers. These flowers are star-shaped and have a yellow pigment.It is Paleto golden in color.Cananga essential oil is made from fresh flowers of Ylang-ylang tree under steam distillation process. It is valued in aromatherapy for its mind blowing aroma. The oil has a sweet, exotic and balsamic fragrance and varies in color from dark to slight yellow. It is known for its various therapeutic properties and rich, fruity, and floral scent.
One of the main compounds of Cananga odorata oil is linalool, known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties.Cananga oil has various chemical compounds that include monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, eugenol. The essential oil contains linalool, geranyl acetate, caryophyllene, cresyl methyl ether, methyl benzoate, benzyl acetate, benzyl benzoate & other sesquiterpenes.
Cananga Odorata is an evergreen tree native to Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines. Its flower is the major source of making Cananga essential oil and perfume. Unlike other trees, growth of Ylang-ylang is very fast and has an approx height of 12 m.
